Fast Adaptive Quadtree Mesh Generation

A size-governed quadtree mesh generation method is presented in this paper to deal with planar domains of arbitrary shape. The tree decomposition provides a convenient control space, which can be used to determine the element sizes, as well as a neighboring space, which allows for the quick searching of mesh items. The sizes of the tree cells are adjusted to match the size speciications (deened as a continuous element-size distribution function in IR 2). Hence, the proposed method can be used in the context of mesh adaption in numerical simulations based on the nite element method. Several application examples are provided to emphasize the main features of this approach.
